What I love most about CBT therapy is that it focuses on moving forward and finding helpful strategies to positively change how we think and feel in different situations. We often can’t change what happens to us in life but we can try to take control of how we deal with it.
CBT not only leaves you with a better understanding of yourself and the issues you are facing, but also tools to keep on track for the future.
CBT has evolved in recent years to include other use approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness which can be useful to incorporate depending on your situation. An effective CBT therapist will be able to gain an understanding of your personal situation and draw upon the approaches that will best guide your journey.
I hope that gives you a better idea of how CBT might work. However the most important part of therapy is that you feel we are working as a team. No one size fits all and my varied experience and training means we can find a way of understanding your situation that makes the most sense for you.
